Domestic EONZ participation and Team NZ eligibility are separate. A student may participate in the domestic pathway without being eligible to represent New Zealand internationally.
Important Status and Progression
​Students attending a New Zealand secondary school may enter the School Round regardless of passport.
1) Domestic EONZ eligibility
Eligible students may participate in the School Round, National Final Round, domestic awards, National Selection Squad and training programme regardless of passport, subject to the published age, education and registration requirements.

2) Team New Zealand representation eligibility
International representation eligibility is assessed separately. Passport, nationality, residency and applicable international competition rules will be reviewed before final Team New Zealand confirmation. A student holding a non-New Zealand passport may still be considered, but eligibility is not guaranteed.

Domestic Rounds
All eligible students may participate domestically. Only students who satisfy New Zealand representation requirements may progress to Team New Zealand.
Dual Nationality
A student who holds New Zealand nationality alongside another nationality may elect to be considered for Team New Zealand, subject to the rules and approval requirements of the International organiser.
